Tales From the Field: Stories From the LSU Vet Med Community

Dr. Louis This special Tales program will feature a screening of the documentary film entitled Dr. Louis Leonpacher: The Flying Vet of Lafayette. The film uses photographs, videos, correspondence, documents, and personal interviews to tell the story of Louis "Lippi" Leonpacher, the German immigrant who became one of the earliest veterinarians in Acadiana and the first in Louisiana to use aircraft as a means to commute to his patients. After the screening, participate in a Q & A session with the creator / producer of the documentary and Leonpacher's grand-daughter, Leslie Leonpacher. The film screening and refreshments will begin around 6pm and last about 50 minutes. Afterward, Ms. Leonpacher will answer questions from the audience about her grandfather and the making of the documentary. Program ends at 7:30pm.
