Art as Communication-Communicating Identity In-Person
For this project, students in Fundamentals of Communication class explored how visual techniques, symbolic imagery, and artistic composition communicate to the viewer. Each student was asked to create a Symbolic Self-Portrait representing important aspects of their personal, social, and cultural identities. The exhibit you are seeing is from fourteen sections of CMST 1061, taught by Naomi Bennett, Joni Butcher, Taylor Dawson, and Lisa Hebert. A jury of instructors from the Department of Communication Studies selected the top five artworks from each section.
