Media with a Message: The Power of Socially Conscious Entertainment Online
Think about the last time you read a good book or watched a good movie or television program. Was it fun? Or was it more than that? Entertainment narratives can sometimes do a better job than news in getting us to think about the most pressing and serious issues facing communities, nations, and broader society. The stories can have broader impacts beyond enjoyment - from health decisions to advocacy. Join us for a discussion as we talk about these impacts and how entertainment can be an important part of your media diet regarding social issues.
Join us for our Media Literacy Week 2021 event featuring Meghan Sanders, Katheryn Pate Callahan Professor and Director of the Media Effects Lab at LSU's Manship School of Mass Communication.
This event will be moderated by Rebecca Kelley, Mass Communication Librarian, and Brittany O'Neill, Humanities & Social Sciences Librarian, of LSU Libraries.
"Media with a Message: The Power of Socially Conscious Entertainment" will be held virtually through Zoom. Registrants will receive the recording after the event. Register below!
