Tales From the Field: Stories From the LSU Vet Med Community

Tales From the Field: Stories From the LSU Vet Med Community In-Person

The Tales From the Field program series shines a spotlight on the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine by sharing stories that exemplify our Vision, Mission, and Values. This program will highlight the school’s Vision of “Bettering lives through education, public service, and discovery.”

Natural disasters are a common threat in the southern United States, particularly south Louisiana. Both the Louisiana Office of Emergency Preparedness and the Louisiana State Animal Response Team work together to ensure the community's readiness for emergencies that impact animal well-being. Learning moments from past natural disasters have been important in the continual development and improvement of emergency response strategies. Listen as Associate Professor of Equine Surgery, Dr. Mustajab Mirza discusses the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine's role in developing and implementing these response strategies and gives anecdotes from the field during real-world emergency response situations.
