Animal CSI: Tales From the Field - Stories From the LSU Vet Med Community

Animal CSI: Tales From the Field - Stories From the LSU Vet Med Community In-Person

The Tales From the Field program series shines a spotlight on the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine by sharing stories that exemplify our Vision, Mission, and Values. This program will highlight the school’s Vision of “Bettering lives through education, public service, and discovery.”

Forensic veterinary pathology is a growing field that examines diseased animals that have been potential victims of acts of cruelty. The importance of identifying these acts of cruelty correctly is essential as they identify deviant behavior in humans that has high potential to escalate into child and domestic abuse, and even serial killing. Hunting behavior of urban carnivores, like coyotes, foxes or wolves, can mimic acts of cruelty when the body parts of the prey animal are found. How can the distinction be made? Forensic veterinary pathology has the answer! Please join us as Nanny Wenzlow, Assistant Professor in Forensic Pathology in the Pathobiological Sciences Department, discusses these topics in a highly engaging and informative program.

This event will take place in the LSU Vet Med Library common area (and via Zoom) on Friday, March 3rd from 5:15 to 6:00pm.
